Community Groups
of the Hunter Region
Community groups are for like-minded organic growers. They have different purposes and are not necessarily located at a growing space.
Find a community group here or let us know about any not listed.
It’s a monthly gathering for anyone interested in gardening, growing, permaculture, and meeting like-minded people. No membership, no fee, no agenda - just casual conversation at the pub.
An informal free playgroup for families with young children who are interested in learning and sharing permaculture knowledge and skills with other like minded families and encouraging their children to explore and connect with nature in its many inspiring forms.
Our gatherings offer connection and conversation for carers while encouraging nature inspired play and connection for babies and children of all ages.
See their page for more information
Know that one Soil Sister CAN make a difference with big ideas and Baby Steps. Soil is the solution! Along with connection to community and inspiring information. If you live near Singleton, join us for Social Gardening at the Singleton Community Garden every Sunday from 9am. Or join us for Coffee & Compost on the first Saturday of the month
First Saturday of the Month
10am
Bring along your bounty, abundance, harvest, and participate in an alternative economy. One where cash is not allowed!!
Notice the emphasis on “share” rather than “swap”. This means that if you have little or nothing to bring to offer, you’re not prevented from joining us.
Some suggestions for potential offerings: homegrown produce, seedlings, cuttings, homemade produce (preserves, baked goods, etc), seeds (that are dried, processed, and ready for storage/planting), homemade items, gifts of time/skills, useful items from your house you no longer need.
We ask that everyone maintains the following, in order to generate & maintain the desired culture:
💐Give with the expectation of nothing in return.
🍄Receive with no feelings of owing.
🌿Take only what is fair, considering all the people present.
The 3 rivers hinterland is the area surrounding the Hunter, Williams, and Paterson Rivers (the greater Maitland district). This is a community-run event with no formal organisation.
Anambah and Belmont
Holistic Nature Offerings held at The Farm, Wonnarua country, and The Paddock, Awabakal country.
Please email hunterorganicgrowerssociety@gmail.com if
